A Multi-Format Celebration of Gaming Culture
The 2026 edition of the Dubai Esports & Games Festival aims to build on the record-breaking success of previous years by expanding its physical and digital footprint. Organized by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), the event will be anchored by the "GameExpo," a consumer-focused showcase where fans can experience the latest titles, high-performance hardware, and cutting-edge VR/AR technology.
A key highlight of the festival will be the return of the "Play Beyond" tournament, which pits world-renowned gaming influencers and professional athletes against one another in a variety of competitive formats. The festival is designed to be inclusive, offering "Student Challenge" tracks for schools and universities alongside the high-stakes international circuit, fostering a homegrown talent pipeline for the Middle East’s rapidly growing gaming ecosystem.
Strategic Industry Alignment and the GameExpo Summit
Running alongside the consumer festivities is the GameExpo Summit, a dedicated B2B platform for industry professionals. The summit will host more than 100 global speakers, focusing on the "future of play," including the integration of AI in game development, the rise of Web3 gaming, and the monetization of esports media rights.
Dubai’s "Gaming Visa" initiative and the dedicated "Dubai Gaming City" hub in Expo City Dubai are expected to be central themes of the summit. These initiatives are part of the broader Dubai Gaming Strategy 2033, which aims to attract 30,000 new jobs to the sector and increase the gaming industry’s contribution to the emirate’s GDP to $1 billion by the end of the decade.
