The "Golden Visa" Catalyst
The surge follows a pivotal year for New Zealand’s investment migration policy. One year ago, the Government introduced changes to the Active Investor Plus (AIP) visa—often referred to as the "Golden Visa."
The Threshold: New rules allow foreign investors to purchase or build a home in New Zealand provided it is valued at at least $5 million.
The Sweet Spot: According to Sotheby's International Realty managing director Mark Harris, the most significant interest is actually in the $10 million to $20 million category.
The Results: Immigration Minister Erica Stanford recently hailed a $3.39 billion boost from the program, with over 570 applications received since April 2025.
