A Rescue from the Nairobi CBD
The story of Martha Njoki’s transformation began with a chance encounter in Nairobi’s Central Business District. Once a woman plagued by addiction and depression, Njoki was found sleeping on a sack by Nairobi County official Geoffrey Mosiria. At her lowest point, she appeared mentally unwell and asked only for food, later sharing a harrowing history of loss—specifically the death of her two sons seven years ago—which had triggered her descent into street life. Mosiria’s intervention was the first step in a coordinated effort to remove her from the cycle of rejection and ill health that had defined her existence for years.
The Path Through Rehabilitation
Recognizing her openness to change, Mosiria facilitated Njoki’s admission to the Rapid Rehabilitation Centre for Addiction. Over several months, she underwent an intensive treatment program designed to address both her physical dependency and the underlying mental health challenges stemming from her past trauma. The results were described by officials as a "complete transformation." By the time of her discharge, Njoki had not only regained physical health and weight but also underwent cosmetic dental work to restore her appearance and dignity.
Reunion and Corporate Opportunity
Njoki’s recovery reached an emotional peak when she was reunited with her children, who had grown up believing their mother was deceased. This personal restoration was followed quickly by a professional breakthrough. Nabayi Safari Adventures, a Nairobi-based travel and tour company, reached out with a formal job offer. The company’s CEO announced that Njoki would serve as their official brand ambassador and work as a receptionist at their Ngong Road office. To celebrate her fresh start, the company has also planned an introductory trip to Mombasa for their new representative.
