Investigation into Misconduct at Former North Fair Oaks Campus

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a former educator linked to several felony sex crimes. The investigation began in January when a former student came forward to report a past sexual relationship with a staff member. According to detectives, the relationship allegedly began when the victim was 16 years old. As the inquiry progressed, authorities identified a second victim who was also a minor at the time of the alleged offenses. The incidents are reported to have taken place between 2023 and 2025 at Summit Everest, a public charter high school that closed its doors last year.

Suspect Apprehended in Palo Alto

On March 5, 2026, law enforcement officials arrested Anthony GutierrezMolina at his residence in Palo Alto. GutierrezMolina, 31, served as a coach and program manager during his tenure at the now-defunct school. He was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on charges including unlawful sexual intercourse and oral copulation with a minor. Since the closure of Summit Everest, investigators have found no evidence that the suspect continued to work in the education sector. He remains in custody as the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office reviews the evidence for formal prosecution.

Concerns Over Potential Additional Victims

Given the suspect's role as both a coach and a program manager, detectives expressed concern that there may be other individuals who were targeted during his employment. The Sheriff’s Office is actively encouraging former students or staff members who may have relevant information to contact the department. While the two identified victims are currently receiving support and resources, authorities are prioritizing a full accounting of the suspect’s interactions with students during the two-year window cited in the charges. The closure of the school has added a layer of complexity to the outreach efforts, necessitating a broad public appeal for witnesses.
