The announcement, made by U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas Jonathan D. Ross, follows a comprehensive investigation involving the FBI Little Rock Field Office and the Helena-West Helena Police Department. Officials stated that the operation was designed to address escalating community concerns regarding gun violence and the distribution of lethal narcotics such as fentanyl.
The Indicted Individuals and Specific Charges
The federal grand jury returned indictments against seven men, six of whom are residents of Helena-West Helena, with one from nearby Marvell. The charges vary by individual but focus on the intersection of narcotics distribution and illegal weapons:
Jacarius Ross (34): Possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.
Dmarkus Britton (38): Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of an unregistered National Firearms Act weapon.
