Minister Conducts Post-Election Appreciation Visit to Kuje Stakeholders
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has signaled a new phase of infrastructural expansion for the Kuje Area Council. Addressing a gathering of traditional rulers, youth leaders, and political stakeholders, Wike expressed the presidency's gratitude for the "loud" support shown during the February 21, 2026, FCT area council elections. The Minister emphasized that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu is predicated on rewarding loyal communities with tangible development, promising that Kuje’s electoral cooperation would be met with significant government investment.
Chairman-Elect Proposes Three Critical Economic Road Links
The highlight of the visit was a formal request presented by the Kuje Chairman-elect, Mr. Danjuma Shekwolo. Identifying transportation as the primary catalyst for local economic growth, Shekwolo urged the Minister to consider the construction of the Gwargwarda to Kuje Road, Kuje to Rubochi Road, and the Kuje to Kabi Road. Shekwolo, who is set to be sworn in by June 2026, noted that these routes are essential for connecting agricultural hubs to central markets, thereby reducing post-harvest losses and improving the livelihoods of rural residents.
Presidential Anniversary Inaugurations Set for Mid-2026
Wike provided an optimistic update on ongoing projects within the council, revealing that the Tipper Garage to LEA Secretariat Road has been successfully dualized and inaugurated. Furthermore, he announced that the contractor for the Airport Road to Kuje project has been ordered back to the site with a strict deadline. The Minister noted that this road, along with the 17-kilometer Kuje-Gwagwalada link, is expected to be completed and inaugurated by June 2026 as part of the nationwide celebrations marking President Tinubu’s third year in office.
