A Decisive Leadership Shift in Ado-Ekiti
The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has transitioned to a new executive leadership following a comprehensive state congress held this Saturday. Hon. Lanre Omolase, a prominent ally of former Governor Ayodele Fayose, secured the chairmanship in an exercise monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and various security agencies. The emergence of Omolase is viewed by political analysts as a stabilizing move for the Fayose faction, providing a clear hierarchy as the party prepares for future electoral cycles in the state.
Composition of the State Working Committee
Beyond the chairmanship, the congress produced a full slate of officials to manage the party's provincial affairs. Chief Tunde Ogunleye, a former state commissioner, was elected as Secretary, while Babatunde Akande assumed the role of Deputy Chairman. The new State Working Committee includes a diverse group of stakeholders, such as Femi Philips as Publicity Secretary and Mrs. Ayodele Oluwatoyin Bosede as Women Leader. This organizational restructuring is designed to provide the PDP with a robust administrative framework capable of coordinating grassroots mobilization across Ekiti’s three senatorial districts.
Addressing Internal Challenges and Repositioning
Bisi Kolawole, a member of the PDP National Caretaker Working Committee and the party’s 2022 governorship candidate, addressed the congress regarding the internal difficulties that have hampered the party’s progress. Acknowledging previous friction, Kolawole assured the delegates that extensive consultations are currently underway with national stakeholders to restore unity. He emphasized that the primary goal of the current leadership is to rebuild internal democracy and restore the confidence of the rank-and-file members who have been disillusioned by recent political setbacks.
