High-Speed Collision into Tree on South Boeke Road

A Friday afternoon commute turned into a chaotic scene in Evansville after a single-vehicle accident left a car heavily damaged and a father in custody. Evansville Police responded to the 800 block of S. Boeke Road around 3:00 p.m. following reports that a vehicle had veered off the road and struck a tree. According to the probable cause affidavit, the severity of the front-end impact suggested the car was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the collision. The driver was identified as 38-year-old Travis Carson-Lambert.

Alcohol and Neglect Allegations

Upon inspecting the wreckage, officers discovered a punctured beer can, an open Twisted Tea, and a cup that smelled strongly of alcohol inside the cabin. During a subsequent search of the suspect, police reportedly found a bottle of tequila hidden in Carson-Lambert’s pants pocket. Two children were discovered in the back seat of the vehicle; both were transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Authorities stated that while the children were endangered by the high-speed impact, one was treated for minor injuries.

Medical Claims vs. Chemical Test Results

Carson-Lambert initially attributed the crash to a medical emergency, telling investigators he believed he suffered a seizure while driving north on Boeke Road. However, results from on-site and hospital testing told a different story. Police reported that Carson-Lambert failed multiple field sobriety tests and recorded a .134% BAC on a portable breathalyzer at the scene. Subsequent blood draws at the hospital revealed an Alcohol Concentration Equivalent (ACE) of .183%, more than double the legal limit in Indiana.
