The Proposal: Treatment at the Counter
Under the new scheme, backed by a $5 million Health New Zealand budget, community pharmacists would be authorized to directly provide funded medications for:
Pain and fever in children.
Skin conditions such as scabies and headlice.
Common infections like conjunctivitis.
Dehydration via rehydration therapy.
