A "Rare Case" of Professional Malpractice
The tribunal's ruling was scathing, stating that Yu must be removed from the profession "to protect the public for as long as possible." Her license has been cancelled for the maximum allowable period of two years, though the tribunal noted this duration was a statutory limit rather than an indication that she would be fit to return by 2028.
Key findings against Yu included:
Fabrication: Creating a fraudulent residence-qualifying job in exchange for thousands of dollars.
Forgery: Forging a signature on a work contract and utilizing a fake Immigration New Zealand letterhead to deceive a client.
Misrepresentation: Lying to one client for seven months regarding the status of their application and failing to disclose that her practicing license had already been suspended.
