The Allegations from Beijing
Guo Jiakun, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that a New Zealand P-8A Poseidon anti-submarine patrol aircraft recently conducted "close-in reconnaissance" over the Yellow Sea and East China Sea. China’s complaints include:
Security Risks: Allegations that the actions undermined China’s security interests and increased the risk of "miscalculation."
Civil Aviation Disruption: Claims that the aircraft gravely disrupted the order of civil aviation in the region.
Sovereignty Concerns: China’s Ministry of National Defence urged New Zealand to impose "stricter discipline" over its frontline forces to prevent maritime and aerial incidents.
