Savani Brothers Convicted For Multi-Million Dollar Criminal Enterprise

Following a high-profile federal trial, a jury has convicted Dr. Bhaskar Savani and his brother, Arun Savani, for orchestrating a sprawling racketeering conspiracy that lasted more than ten years. Based in Pennsylvania, the "Savani Group" operated as a sophisticated criminal entity that utilized a network of dental practices to funnel millions of dollars through various fraudulent schemes. Prosecutors successfully argued that the brothers, along with their associate Aleksandra Radomiak, systematically defrauded government programs, exploited workers, and compromised patient safety for personal enrichment.

Medicaid Fraud And Identity Theft At The Heart Of The Scheme

The cornerstone of the Savani Group’s illicit profits was a massive healthcare fraud operation that siphoned more than $30 million from Medicaid. After several Savani-owned practices were terminated from insurance contracts, the brothers utilized "nominee" business owners to fraudulently obtain new contracts and continue billing the government. In one particularly egregious facet of the fraud, the group submitted bills using the National Provider Identifier (NPI) of a dentist who was physically outside of the United States at the time the purported services were performed. The trial revealed that many procedures were actually conducted by uncredentialed staff members.

"Not For Human Use": Patients Implanted With Prototype Devices

Among the most disturbing revelations during the trial was the Savani Group’s violation of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. Evidence proved that Dr. Bhaskar Savani placed prototype dental implants—explicitly labeled by the manufacturer as "Not For Human Use"—into patients without their knowledge or consent. These devices had not been cleared by the FDA, bypassing critical safety protocols designed to protect the public from untested medical equipment. Acting Special Agent Fernando McMillan of the FDA noted that the defendants "deliberately circumvented" safeguards, showing a total disregard for human health.
