Following a targeted operation on Thursday, April 9, 2026, DCI detectives arrested three primary suspects linked to the assault of Senator Godfrey Osotsi. The arrests took place in the Manyatta and Nyalenda areas of Kisumu. The suspects have been identified as Carlos Owiti (24), Eric Otieno (39), and Vincent Odhiambo (27). Authorities confirmed that the trio was located in various hideouts and is currently being processed for arraignment in court.
Details of the Assault
The attack occurred at the Java House within the West End Mall on Wednesday, April 8. CCTV footage from the establishment showed several assailants approaching Senator Osotsi while he was seated with a companion. After a brief verbal exchange, the men pounced on the senator, knocking him to the ground and dragging him across the floor. The footage further documented one assailant kicking the senator while hotel staff reportedly looked on.
Medical Status and Evacuation
Senator Osotsi sustained significant injuries, including visible facial swelling. He was initially admitted to the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu for emergency stabilization. Due to the severity of the injuries and the need for specialized evaluation, he was subsequently airlifted to Nairobi and admitted to The Karen Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
