Rejecting Financial Backing Amidst Growing Pressure

David Sabo Kente, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governorship candidate, has officially turned down an offer from political associates to purchase his 2027 nomination form. Speaking Wednesday at a massive stakeholders’ meeting in Wukari local government council, Kente described the gesture as "premature." Despite the gathering of over 300 delegates from all 16 local government areas, Kente insisted that formal declarations must wait until a broader consensus is reached through ongoing political consultations across the state.

The Principle Of Senatorial Power Rotation

A central theme of Kente’s address was the delicate balance of power between Taraba’s senatorial zones. He noted that the Southern senatorial zone has occupied the governorship for over a decade with the cooperation of the Central and Northern zones. Kente warned that pushing for an additional eight-year extension for the South would be "insensitive" and could jeopardize state unity. He maintained that any future political move must respect the established principle of rotation to ensure fairness and prevent regional friction during the 2027 election cycle.

Critique Of The Agbu Kefas Administration

The stakeholders’ meeting also served as a platform for grievances against the current state government. Kente and several other speakers criticized the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas, describing his style of governance as resembling a "sole administrator" rather than a democratic leader. Specific complaints focused on the alleged marginalization of long-standing APC members in state appointments. Supporters claimed that those who built the party's foundation in Taraba are being sidelined in favor of new entrants, a trend they warned could lead to significant internal fractures.
