Guilty Plea to Reduced Charges in Stabbing Case
Leshawn Chandler of Cleveland has been sentenced to one year in prison following a legal agreement in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. Chandler, 38, pleaded guilty to reduced charges of assault and obstructing official business in connection with the stabbing of a minor. Judge Brendan Sheehan delivered the sentence Friday morning, mandating that Chandler serve his time at the Lorain Correctional Institution.
Emergency Response to Monticello Boulevard Residence
The case stems from a violent encounter that took place in the early hours of December 9, 2025. Cleveland Heights police officers were dispatched to a home in the 3900 block of Monticello Boulevard at approximately 12:45 a.m. Upon their arrival, authorities discovered a 15 year old girl suffering from multiple lacerations. The victim received immediate medical attention for the wounds sustained during the indoor attack, which led to the swift identification and arrest of suspects at the scene.
Dismissal of Charges Against Second Suspect
While Chandler was successfully prosecuted, the legal outcome for a second individual involved in the initial arrest differed significantly. Timothy Willis, 41, also of Cleveland, was originally taken into custody alongside Chandler at the residence. However, his case was dismissed without prejudice, meaning prosecutors retain the option to refile charges in the future if new evidence emerges. The specific reasons for the dismissal were not detailed in the court record during Chandler’s sentencing hearing.
