Strengthening the G10 Bond Market Leadership
The decision to expand the Australian syndication team is rooted in the strategic importance of the Australian dollar within the global financial system. Australia currently maintains the third largest corporate bond market of all G10 currencies, trailing only the United States Dollar and the Euro. This significant liquidity pool makes the region a critical hub for both domestic and international issuers seeking diversified funding sources. According to Cristina Chang, Citi Australia and New Zealand head of markets, these appointments are a direct response to the bank's commitment to leading in corporate credit, rates, and asset backed securities (ABS) securitized products.
Strategic Securitization Expertise in the APAC Region
Jessica Rowe joins Citi as director of spread products syndication for Australia and APAC, bringing a decade of specialized experience from National Australia Bank (NAB). Her career has been defined by the successful syndication of securitized products across both United Kingdom and Australian markets. In her new capacity at Citi, Rowe will oversee the execution of primary securitization transactions, specifically focusing on residential mortgage backed securities (RMBS), asset backed securities (ABS), and commercial real estate (CMBS/CRE). Her role involves close collaboration with internal structuring, origination, sales, and trading teams to navigate the complex regulatory and liquidity demands of the APAC securitization landscape.
Capitalizing on the Australian Dollar Debt Ecosystem
The appointment of Dane Harris as vice president in the A$ debt syndicate team adds over 15 years of deep industry expertise to Citi’s bench. Harris most recently led product development for the fixed income division at Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) and possesses a pedigree that includes tenures at global giants UBS and Deutsche Bank in London. At Citi, his primary objective will be leading the syndication, pricing, and distribution of A$ unsecured bonds. This strategic focus is essential for maintaining Citi's competitive edge in providing seamless execution for both domestic corporate entities and international "Kangaroo" issuers who tap the Australian market for geographical diversification.
