Meloni thanked fans for "sticking with him" through a decade-long hiatus and welcoming the character back in 2021. The actor noted that the support of the viewers provided him with a nearly 17-year tenure in the role across two different series.

After starring alongside Mariska Hargitay for 12 seasons of SVU, Meloni departed the show in 2012, leaving fans clamoring for his return for nearly nine years.
