China Establishes Early Dominance in the Humanoid Race
The global market for humanoid robotics has reached a critical inflection point, with China emerging as the undisputed leader in early commercialization. In 2025, Chinese companies were responsible for approximately 90% of total worldwide shipments, a figure driven by a rapid expansion of production capabilities. Data indicates that global deliveries exceeded 14,500 units last year, primarily serving research and industrial sectors. Experts suggest that while the technology is currently concentrated in specialized environments, the current scaling trajectory points toward mass adoption across retail and household applications by 2030.
Unitree Leads Global Rankings Through Aggressive Pricing
Unitree has secured the top position among global manufacturers, shipping 5,500 units in 2025—a significant jump from the 1,500 units recorded the previous year. The company’s success is largely attributed to its ability to produce highly advanced yet affordable hardware. For example, its R1 model is currently priced at $5,900, a fraction of the cost of Western competitors. This strategy of high-volume, low-cost production is mirrored by AgiBot, which followed closely with 5,168 units sold. The Chinese market saw the introduction of 21 new humanoid models in 2025 alone, representing a massive acceleration from only three models in 2022.
The Staggering Valuation Gap in the United States Market
In contrast to the high-volume shipments in Asia, the United States market remains in a nascent, low-output phase. Leading American firms including Tesla, Figure AI, and Agility Robotics each shipped roughly 150 units in 2025. Despite these limited deliveries, investor enthusiasm remains exceptionally high. Figure AI saw its valuation soar to $39 billion in 2026, a meteoric rise from its $2.6 billion valuation just two years prior. This suggests a market where financial speculation regarding future dominance is currently outstripping the physical reality of present-day manufacturing output.
