Expansion of the Delhi Corridor

As part of its strategic growth for the 2026 summer schedule, Centrum Air has announced an increase in its flagship service between Tashkent and New Delhi. Beginning March 29, the carrier will move from twice-weekly flights to a three-times-weekly schedule. This move comes less than a year after the airline’s initial entry into the Indian market in October 2025. The additional frequency is designed to meet the surging demand for affordable travel options, particularly for Indian students and business travelers moving between Central Asia and the subcontinent.

Strategic Entry into South India

Beyond Delhi, Centrum Air is officially launching its first South Indian destination with a new Tashkent–Hyderabad route starting March 30, 2026. This service will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays using Airbus A320 aircraft. Hyderabad was selected as a priority destination due to its status as a global hub for healthcare and information technology. The airline’s leadership, including CEO Abdulaziz Abdurakhmanov, has highlighted that this connection will specifically facilitate "medical tourism," as thousands of Uzbek citizens travel to India annually for specialized treatments.

Growing Regional Competition and Cooperation

The expansion brings the total number of weekly flights between Uzbekistan and India to 17, spread across three major carriers: Uzbekistan Airways, Centrum Air, and India’s IndiGo. While Uzbekistan Airways remains the dominant player with its wide-body Boeing 787 and 767 operations, Centrum Air’s hybrid model offering all-economy cabins with included meal services targets the price-sensitive segment of the market. The increased connectivity follows a 2025 milestone where over 82,000 Indian tourists visited Uzbekistan, a number expected to exceed 120,000 by the end of 2026.
