Institutional Capital Floods Into Digital Assets

BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager with over $11 trillion in assets, has accelerated its pace of cryptocurrency acquisitions as of April 9, 2026. Through its two primary spot exchange-traded funds, the firm integrated nearly $590 million in Bitcoin and Ethereum into its portfolio over just four trading days. This move highlights a growing institutional appetite for digital currencies, even as the broader market navigates complex geopolitical shifts and previous periods of volatility.

Explosive Growth in Bitcoin Trust Inflows

The iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) experienced a monumental surge in activity, recording net cash inflows of $474.50 million during the reporting period. This figure represents a staggering increase of approximately 2,794% compared to the $16.38 million recorded the previous week. On a single Thursday, the fund saw its highest daily inflow since early March, suggesting that professional investors are viewing current price points as an attractive entry for long-term accumulation despite recent selloffs.

Ethereum Fund Reverses Downward Trend

Following a three-week period of consistent outflows totaling over $418 million, the iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) appears to have stabilized. Investors contributed $114.66 million in net cash to the fund over the last four days, potentially ending a streak of negative sentiment. By Thursday, ETHA posted a net inflow of $90.94 million, the highest single-day gain for the fund since mid-January, bringing its total assets to approximately $6.75 billion.
