Swift Community Intervention Leads to Apprehension of Attacker
A harrowing abduction in a Birmingham neighborhood ended with a high-stakes rescue and a significant prison sentence for the perpetrator. On March 30, 2025, a five year old girl was playing outside her home while her mother spoke with a neighbor just feet away. During a lapse in supervision lasting fewer than ten seconds, 32 year old Mohammed Abdulraziq successfully moved the child from the street into his terraced residence. The mother’s immediate realization that her daughter was missing sparked a frantic search of the surrounding shops and parks.
Rescuers Force Entry into Locked Residence Following Cries of Distress
The search concluded when the mother heard her daughter’s cries emanating from Abdulraziq’s home. Two unidentified men acted decisively, forcing their way into the property to reach the child. Upon entry, they discovered the suspect in a state of partial undress in a locked bedroom with the victim. The rescuers restrained Abdulraziq on-site, maintaining control of the scene until West Midlands Police officers arrived to take the suspect into formal custody.
Judicial Review Details Intoxication and Predatory Conduct
During the trial at Birmingham Crown Court, Judge Kerry Maylin highlighted the suspect’s behavior earlier on the day of the attack. Evidence presented to the jury indicated that Abdulraziq had been consuming alcohol and synthetic cannabis before approaching the victim’s mother and making inappropriate comments. The court determined that the suspect had specifically encouraged the girl to enter his home, subsequently locking her in a bedroom that fortunately overlooked the street, allowing her cries to be heard by those searching outside.
