Significant expansion of financial operations in Jersey City
Bank of America is moving forward with a major construction project to expand its corporate presence within Newport Tower at 525 Washington Boulevard. The banking institution is taking over an additional 548,000 square feet of office space, which spans 17 floors of the high rise property. While the company already maintains a presence in the building, this new expansion represents a substantial increase in its local operations. The initial phases of the new office digs are slated to potentially open as early as this summer, with full operational capacity expected later in the year.
Long term commitment and strategic location
The expansion is the result of a 15 year lease agreement that was finalized in late 2023. Located in the Newport section of Jersey City, the office is strategically positioned approximately two blocks from the Hudson River and directly across from the Newport PATH Station, providing convenient transit access for employees. This multi floor renovation underscores the company’s long term commitment to the New Jersey waterfront as a primary hub for its workforce and administrative functions.
Development of modern workspace and employee amenities
Current construction activities are focused on building out new amenities and specialized areas on the upper floors of the facility. A recent internal update shared with Bank of America employees confirmed that crews are working toward a total project wrap up before the end of 2026. The renovation aims to create a state of the art environment that meets modern corporate standards, ensuring that the substantial new square footage is equipped with the necessary infrastructure for large scale banking operations.
