Origins of the International Design Dispute
The conflict dates back to 2019, when Muzoon Holdings alleged that Cooper Carry failed to fulfill specific obligations under its design contract for the Esplanade mall. According to the U.S. filing, the firm reportedly missed several key milestones, including:
Wayfinding signage design.
Architectural site visits.
Lighting-related design site visits.
Muzoon originally sought a refund for these services, totaling approximately $199K. When the firm did not comply, Muzoon initiated legal action in Dubai in June 2019, accusing the architecture giant of breach of contract.
