A Sudden Abduction and Violent Encounter

The Arvada Police Department took Javier Delgado-Cordoba into custody on Monday, April 20, following an investigation into a harrowing incident involving an Uber passenger. According to police reports, the attack originated in January after Delgado-Cordoba picked up a woman and her boyfriend from a bar in Denver. While the boyfriend stepped away to unlock their residence in Arvada, the driver allegedly moved into the backseat with the incapacitated victim and sped away before the boyfriend could intervene.

DNA Evidence and the Formal Arrest

Following the ordeal, the victim was abandoned at a commercial business in a neighboring city, after which she sought immediate medical attention and a forensic examination. Arvada authorities utilized DNA evidence collected during that exam, alongside rideshare profile data and social media analysis, to identify Delgado-Cordoba as the primary suspect. He now faces three counts of sexual assault related to the January encounter.

Concerns Over Potential Multiple Victims

Delgado-Cordoba had been operating as a driver for Uber for approximately one year, completing more than 1,000 trips during that tenure. Given the brazen nature of the alleged kidnapping and assault, Arvada Police Chief Ed Brady expressed significant concern that other passengers may have been targeted. Officials are urging anyone who interacted with the suspect, who utilized the name Javier and drove a light-colored 2023 Kia K5, to contact investigators.
