A Record-Breaking Feat of Devotion
The "mega carpet of San Salvador" established itself as the largest of its kind in Central America this year. Spanning 1,070 meters in length and four meters in width, the installation required a massive logistical effort. Organizers from the Culture Secretariat reported using 800 quintals of salt, meticulously dyed in over 150 different shades to achieve the intricate designs.
Symbolism and Craftsmanship
The carpet's path began at Plaza Libertad and concluded at Simón Bolívar Park. The artwork featured a blend of:
Religious Iconography: Traditional figures associated with the Passion of Christ.
Salvadoran Identity: Symbols representing the nation's history and heritage.
