Critique of Presidential Ambition without Infrastructure

The All Progressives Congress has launched a sharp critique against Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, regarding his approach to the 2027 general elections. During an appearance on Channels Television, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka alleged that Obi’s political methodology is fundamentally flawed. Morka argued that rather than investing the necessary effort into building a resilient political institution, Obi is engaged in a perpetual search for existing platforms that can offer him a path to the presidency without internal competition.

The Allegation of Political Ticket Shopping

Morka described Obi’s behavior as "perpetually shopping" for party tickets where he can emerge as a candidate uncontested. According to the APC spokesperson, this strategy suggests a lack of interest in the foundational work required to sustain a political party. He maintained that Obi’s primary goal is to identify and secure a ticket for the presidential race rather than fostering the growth or organizational stability of the parties he joins, framing the former governor's actions as opportunistic.

Dismissal of Opposition Consensus Efforts

The ruling party also took the opportunity to address recent gatherings of opposition figures, most notably the summit held in Ibadan. Morka dismissed the idea that these meetings represent a broad or meaningful consensus among the various participating blocs. He characterized the huddle as a collection of disjointed interests rather than a unified front, suggesting that the diverse participants are far from reaching a common ground on a singular agenda for the 2027 polls.
