Accelerating Infrastructure for Next Generation AI
The rapidly evolving landscape of frontier artificial intelligence has prompted Anthropic to secure a massive expansion of its compute infrastructure through a new partnership with Google and Broadcom. This agreement centers on the acquisition of multiple gigawatts of next-generation Tensor Processing Unit capacity, which is expected to begin coming online in 2027. According to Anthropic CFO Krishna Rao, this move represents a disciplined approach to scaling, ensuring the firm can sustain the exponential growth of its user base while continuing to push the technical boundaries of its Claude models.
Unprecedented Financial Growth in early 2026
The infrastructure commitment follows a period of extraordinary financial performance for the AI firm. Anthropic revealed that its run-rate revenue has now surpassed $30 billion, a staggering increase from the approximately $9 billion recorded at the end of 2025. This momentum is further evidenced by the doubling of its most significant enterprise clients. While the company reported 500 business customers spending over $1 million annually during its Series G fundraising in February, that figure has surged to more than 1,000 in less than 60 days.
Strengthening the American Computing Landscape
A significant portion of the newly secured compute capacity will be located within the United States. This decision serves as a major extension of the $50 billion commitment Anthropic made in November 2025 to bolster American computing infrastructure. By siting these high-performance clusters domestically, the partnership with Google and Broadcom reinforces the strategic importance of local hardware sovereignty. The move also deepens existing technical ties with Google Cloud and Broadcom, building upon TPU capacity expansions previously announced in late 2025.
