Affirmation Of Political Dominance And Institutional Stability

The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, has asserted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains the most capable political entity to guide Nigeria through its current period of reform. Speaking at the 8th National Convention in Abuja, AbdulRazaq emphasized that the party's longevity is rooted in its capacity to manage the country's vast diversity and foster a culture of inclusive dialogue. He maintained that the APC is not merely an electoral platform but a disciplined institution focused on long-term national renewal, positioning it as the primary force in the nation's democratic landscape.

Support For Executive Reforms And Fiscal Redistribution

A central theme of the convention was the collective endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies by the sub-national leadership. Governor AbdulRazaq commended the President’s courage in implementing challenging fiscal decisions, noting that these reforms have significantly increased the revenue available to the federation. This shift has reportedly allowed state governments to more effectively fund their own critical priorities, including land administration improvements and public financial management. The governor noted that state assemblies have already begun adopting corresponding tax reform bills to align with the federal government’s broader economic objectives.

Investment In Human Capital And Global Health Partnerships

The party’s leadership highlighted a significant focus on human capital development as a pillar of the national agenda. AbdulRazaq pointed to several health initiatives, such as the Basic Health Care Provision Fund and the Primary Health Care Under One Roof program, as evidence of the party's commitment to improving social outcomes. Notably, he referenced a $5.1 billion Memorandum of Understanding signed with the United States under the Global Health Strategy, alongside a $3 billion commitment from the Nigerian Presidency. These investments are intended to strengthen health systems across all states, ensuring that development translates into tangible improvements for the citizenry.
