Authorities in Baldwin County, Alabama, have released details regarding a domestic violence incident that resulted in a 32-year-old man being rendered unconscious by his own son. Deputies responded to a call on the night of March 9, after receiving reports that Daniel Hernandez-Lopez had allegedly attempted to strangle his wife during a heated argument. The situation, fueled by high levels of intoxication, escalated rapidly when the suspect's 13-year-old son intervened to prevent further harm to his mother.

Intervention and Physical Altercation with the Minor

According to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, Hernandez-Lopez exited the home following the initial assault but was immediately confronted by his son. The father allegedly lunged at the teenager and attempted to strike him using a bicycle as a weapon. In self-defense and in defense of his mother, the 13-year-old responded by punching his father several times in the face. The force of the counter-attack knocked Hernandez-Lopez unconscious, where he remained until law enforcement arrived on the scene.

Law Enforcement Response and Medical Condition of the Suspect

When officers reached the residence, they found Hernandez-Lopez unresponsive and appearing highly intoxicated. His subsequent booking photo, released after his arrest the following day, displayed significant swelling and bruising to his facial area.
