Apprehension Following Targeted Intelligence Operations
The Airport Police Command has successfully apprehended a former staff member of Vovida Communications Limited in connection with the theft of specialized technology assets. The suspect, George Ikpe, was taken into custody on April 3, 2026, following a detailed investigation by the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Police Division. Authorities launched the probe after the company reported the disappearance of critical hardware from its facility located along the airport axis in Lagos.
CCTV Evidence Facilitates Suspect Identification
Technical surveillance played a pivotal role in the breakthrough of the case, as investigators utilized CCTV footage from the firm’s premises to track the perpetrator's movements. The visual evidence reportedly captured the suspect gaining unauthorized access to the building and removing high value items. This digital trail allowed police to confirm Ikpe’s identity and execute a swift arrest shortly after the incident was reported.
Valuation Of Recovered And Missing Assets
The financial impact of the theft is estimated at approximately N15,072,000, comprising several pieces of high end commercial hardware. Specifically, the stolen inventory included two custom-made Vovida Central Processing Units valued at over N10.3 million and a specialized printer worth approximately N4.7 million. While police have successfully recovered the CPUs following disclosures made by the suspect, the printer remains missing after allegedly being sold to an undisclosed buyer prior to the arrest.
