Conditional Reunion Following Safety Assessments
On Monday, March 16, 2026, activist Han Hui Hui was reunited with her three children—aged three, five, and six—after a family conference held to establish enhanced safety protocols. The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) and the Singapore Police Force confirmed the move on Tuesday, emphasizing that the children’s return is not unconditional. The reunion follows a month-long period where the children were kept at KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH), a designated place of temporary care, after police assessed immediate risks to their safety within the household.
Implementation of "Safe Adult" Monitoring
To ensure the continued welfare of the children, the authorities have mandated the appointment of new "safe adults" from Han’s extended family. These individuals are tasked with conducting regular physical visits and video calls to monitor the children's environment. This new arrangement replaces a previous October 2025 safety plan involving Han’s mother-in-law, which the authorities deemed no longer feasible after a series of fresh police reports were filed by various family members against one another in early 2026.
POFMA Direction Issued Over Social Media Claims
Accompanying the children's return, the government issued a correction direction under the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA) to Han. The authorities identified several false statements in Han’s recent social media broadcasts, including claims that the ministry sought to permanently deprive her of access to her children. Han is now required to publish correction notices on her social media platforms to rectify these "falsehoods" and maintain public trust in the state’s child protection processes.
