Breach of Conditional Warning Leads to Charges

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the POFMA Office have announced that a 59-year-old man will face multiple criminal charges on Wednesday. The legal action stems from four TikTok videos posted between 2023 and 2025. While the man had previously been issued 24-month conditional warnings in 2024 for his older content, his alleged commission of new offenses in August 2025 triggered a full prosecution for both the new and old videos. Under the terms of a conditional warning, suspects must remain crime-free for a specified period or face the original charges.

Allegations of Promoting Racial Ill Will

Central to the new charges is a video posted on August 26, 2025. Authorities state that the man made remarks intended to promote feelings of ill will between the Chinese community and other racial groups in Singapore. In that same video, he falsely claimed that the government utilizes its resources to nurture leaders exclusively from the Chinese race. For attempting to promote racial disharmony, the suspect faces up to three years in prison, a fine, or both.

The man also faces three counts under the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA) for several specific claims:
